NCB Now: Coalition set up to improve child safety

1 min read
The Department for Children, Schools and Families has taken a big step towards keeping children safe across the country with a 1.6m grant for practical safety education for children.

The money will establish the Child Safety Education Coalition (CSEC) and was awarded to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in partnership with NCB. The CSEC will work to improve the provision of practical safety education to give more children the skills, knowledge and confidence to keep themselves safe in a range of situations, such as a smoke-filled bedroom or an unsafe kitchen, and reduce the risk of injury or harm.

The coalition will also work together to co-ordinate practical safety education for children from all backgrounds, which will aim to give children opportunities to learn safe behaviours and to respond to hazards in a realistic environment.
