The Government is currently consulting on the guidance, which describes the essential actions local authorities are expected to take in order to raise educational outcomes for looked-after children.
The Children's Residential Care Unit and the Pupil Inclusion Unit, both based at NCB, invited a range of key professionals to the seminar to discuss the guidance and what it means to young people, and what schools can do to support them.
Key thoughts emerging from the day included the need for young people to be aware of their rights if local authorities are not making sufficient provision for their education. The group also called for the right to advocacy to be included in the guidance.
