Drawing on the key aims of CBN's Grief matters for children campaign, Edward Davey MP tabled an early day motion, which received signatures of support from 62 MPs across the political spectrum.
Alison Penny, policy communications co-ordinator for CBN, said: "The early day motion highlights that one in 25 children and young people of school age have experienced the death of a parent, brother or sister. It calls for measures to improve the quality and level of support provided to all bereaved children and young people and their families, wherever they live and however they have been bereaved."
As well as raising the profile of these issues within Parliament and beyond, the early day motion led to the development of links between MPs and CBN members delivering services to bereaved children in their constituencies. The needs of bereaved children have also been addressed more widely.
