This research involves working directly with children to gather information through pictures, interviews and group discussions. The study also includes the views of practitioners and policymakers in the field. Senior research and development officer Dr Stephanie Mitchell said: "This research provides vital evidence of a growing issue in Northern Ireland. We need to consider this evidence and work together to construct a strategic response ensuring the needs of these vulnerable children are met."
The research findings will be presented at a working seminar aimed at those who work with asylum seeking, refugee and migrant children, as well as those who influence policy development in Northern Ireland. Attendees will be encouraged to consider new approaches and develop an agenda for action.
