That's the stark message from a new report into youth leadership published by The Youth of Today, a consortium of leading youth organisations.
Taking the Lead: Youth Leadership in Theory and Practice is aimed at policymakers and practitioners and was written by Lauren Kahn, Sarah Hewes and Rushanara Ali of the Young Foundation.
What the authors uncovered was:
- Where old systems and institutions (such as Parliament or local councils) are in crisis, engaging young people and young leaders can revive and renew them
