The research, A Picture Worth Millions, is the first to bring together all existing data to examine the true scope of the young people's workforce - statutory and third sector staff who support 13- to 19-year-olds (and up to 25 for those with a disability) in their personal, social and educational development.
Commissioned by the Children's Workforce Development Council on behalf of the Young People's Workforce Reform Programme Board, which includes the National Youth Agency, the report finds that 6.04 million people work with young people in a paid or volunteer role in 55 different occupations and across 12 sectors. This equates to nearly one in seven adults.
