National Youth Agency: Agency produces briefing for commissioners

A new briefing from The National Youth Agency provides information to commissioning managers in local authorities who are responsible for commissioning provision for young people, but who may not be familiar with youth work and the youth service.

It will assist those responsible for designing and implementing local planning and commissioning services to understand the role, culture and priorities of local youth services providing youth work as one of their children's trust partners. The briefing, available free of charge on request, discusses the difference youth work makes to young people and their communities, what youth work is, the principles that underpin youth work and the Youth Matters agenda; youth work and the local offer; and frameworks and standards that support the commissioning of high quality youth work provision.
