NATIONAL TRUST: Heritage initiative explores Cumbria

1 min read

Young people from five schools in West Cumbria, including Whitehaven and Cleator Moor, will be working with about 200 members of the community to produce their own play The Spirit of Ennerdale, which will explore the local history and heritage of the area.

Ten local young people aged between 11 and 16 wrote the outdoor drama, which is set amid National Trust Lakelands in Ennerdale. It will take the form of a "promenade performance" on 22 August, with the play moving from one area of the property to another.

The Ennerdale group is working in conjunction with Groundwork West Cumbria and Mobex, the local youth service.
