Encountering the challenges young people face today inspired me to make a difference and stand to represent young people in Leicester as well as in wider society.
One issue affecting young people is education. I believe that the education system is being reformed in such a way that it will not benefit us young people. Listening to the opinions and views of the people in my community has strengthened my belief that we need to see a change.
The entire experience of being elected was exhilarating. When we were elected, it was just a sigh of relief – especially when we were told that more than 9,600 votes were cast so the hard work all the candidates put in to their campaigns was worth it.
