Mission: To improve understanding between young people and the police
Funding: Supported through benefits "in kind" from partners and Positive Activities for Young People Greater Merseyside Connexions' Misundastood project grew out of a desire to improve relations between young people and the police. There was a feeling the two groups lacked understanding of each other and when meetings were held with young people, Section 30 dispersal orders emerged as a key issue.
Section 30 orders allow police to move on groups of people from a designated area after 9pm at night. They can also make young people aged under 16 go home. Several orders were put in place across the Wirral area where the Connexions partnership operates and some young people were concerned by them.
