The London Serious Youth Violence Board document, seen exclusively byCYP Now, will go out to local authorities across the capital. Itrecommends three themes for delivery: tackling mental health, enablingyoung people and communities to break the cycle of violence, andconvincing young people that crime does not pay but a job does.
One of the central planks is to ensure that child and adolescent mentalhealth services (CAMHS) work effectively and link up well withschools.
However, chair of the violence board, Darra Singh, told CYP Now therewill not be additional cash available to back up the recommendations."There are already considerable resources in the system. It is aboutimproving the impact of existing resources," he said, adding that lackof money is too often used as an excuse for inaction.
