Aim To address issues surrounding guns, gangs, knives and street crime
Teenagers attending a youth club in the London Borough of Newham are exploring issues including guns, gangs and knives, with the help of young offenders and young victims of crime.
Race Equality in Newham, a charitable company, runs the project through a group of young advisers aged between 16 and 25.
The advisers have all been affected by guns, gangs or street crime, either as a victim or perpetrator.
During sessions at the youth club, the advisers seek to address the issues behind gang violence and street crime by working with 13- to 19-year-olds in individual and group workshop sessions to explore their feelings about incidents.
