The idea of members of the public choosing a young person's punishment for their crimes and misdemeanours might sound like the kind of wheeze to come from the mind of a reality TV producer.
It is, however, the basis of a scheme driven by the Youth Justice Board (YJB) in 19 youth offending teams (YOTs) across the north west of England as part of a pilot project.
Called the Making Good project, the public is being asked to send in their suggestions via a website until the end of January. Their ideas will be considered and acted on (so long as they're not too leftfield or dangerous).
