The London Community Safety Partnership is setting up the Serious Youth Violence Board to devise a more child-centred approach to tackling youth violence in the capital.
News of its formation comes in the wake of the murder of Ryan Bravo, the 22nd young person to be killed in London this year.
The board will build on the work of the Gangs, Guns and Weapons Board and the London Youth Crime Prevention Board, which is due to wrap up at the end of this year. A meeting this October will be used to thrash out the board's priorities and how it should operate.
Board members are likely to include representatives from the London Mayor's office, the Metropolitan Police Authority and top-ranking staff from London boroughs.
