What is Uthink?
Paul: "Uthink was an early intervention mental health programme for 19- to 25-year-olds that ended in May. Young people experiencing mental health problems were referred to the scheme by a variety of agencies. They came along for one day a week over a six-month period and took part in different activities."
Tony: "I was referred to the programme about two years ago after I started hearing voices in my head and displayed symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. I thought the scheme sounded good so I gave it a try."
What have you got out of the Uthink programme?
Tony: "Before I started attending, I was just sitting at home not doing much. I was quite nervous about going out because of my condition and found it hard to talk to friends and family about what I was experiencing. But on the programme they taught me how to spot the warning signs of when things aren't quite right and coping techniques. I also got to meet other young people who are in a similar situation."
