Me & My Youth Worker - 'The project has given me a way out'

Kyle Pendlebury, 17, and Paul Day, youth engagement officer at Rathbone, Manchester.

- When did you meet?

Kyle: "It was only a few months ago. I was hanging out with my mates on the streets and getting into trouble with the police. We were robbing things and doing other daft stuff.

Then one day a team from Rathbone came along and told us about its work and asked if we wanted to take part. It sounded better than doing nothing, so I said yeah."

Paul: "The police told us there had been a few problems with groups hanging round causing trouble in the Moston area, so we went down to see if we could get them off the streets and doing something positive.
