Me & My Youth Worker: 'I'd like to be a youth worker one day'

1 min read Youth Work
Amy Lamb, 17, and Ginny Drant, duty manager, The Respect Funhouse, Grimsby.

When did you first work together?

Amy: "I first started coming along about seven years ago. I like dance and wanted to get involved in the sessions they run here. It just seemed like a fun place to come along - it beat hanging around."

Has Amy faced any particular problems in the past?

Ginny: "There were a few issues with school. She would have a tendency to get really angry.

Instead of trying to talk things through she would go into a rage where she'd do things like hit the wall. But we worked with her and her parents through that."

Amy: "Ginny has helped me a lot over the years. I got really depressed when I was at school because I was being bullied. My behaviour was bad as well. But I've really improved with Ginny's help."
