Me & My Youth Worker - 'I had a bad attitude and was a brat'

1 min read
Kerry Cox, 18, and Jo Heath, youth worker for Surrey County Council.

What was your first meeting like?

Kerry: "We first met on an Independent Living Skills course about three years ago. I had a bad attitude and was a brat to Jo. She had quite an abrupt manner, which I didn't like."

Jo: "The first thing she said to me was 'I don't like you' and I hadn't even spoken. Kerry hated everyone when she first met them, especially anyone in authority, so I wasn't offended. After a week she came and told me that she liked me now. I'm not sure what changed but she was only 15 so it's understandable."

Has Jo influenced you?
