Me & My Youth Worker: 'I acted and did some of the filming'

1 min read
Afsana Dalal, 13, and Lorraine Hogg, community development worker for Great Lever Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder, Bolton

When did you meet?

Lorraine: "Afsana started coming along about a year ago. She is part of our youth involvement team, which is helping young people to get more involved in the local community. Great Lever is a very deprived part of Bolton and residents come from different faiths and backgrounds. We're trying to get the different communities working together."

Afsana: "My mum is involved in the adult neighbourhood management team. When I heard about the youth team I wanted to get involved."

What projects have you worked on?

Lorraine: "The main scheme has been a community cohesion film project called Journey Home. It's a film about two young refugee brothers from the Sudan and the issues they faced moving to Great Lever. Fifteen young people from a range of communities have been involved, including some from Uganda, Turkey and India.
