The 3.5m What Makes the Difference? campaign, led by Rainer, is sending postcards to MPs and local councillors asking: "Do you know how your children did in their exams?" The idea is to make local politicians aware of their responsibilities as corporate parents.
The campaign will identify ways in which local authorities can improve their services. It is working with 35 local authorities on pilot schemes, and is just over a year into its two-year run.
John Hill, national manager for the project, said poor corporate parenting is emerging as a major barrier to better educational achievement.
The project will launch a 30,000-word pamphlet on corporate parenting in the run-up to Care-Leavers' Week in October.
