A panel of young people questioned five different service providersbidding for the job of helping care leavers in their first steps towardsadulthood.
The group then chose young people's charity Rainer, which will now takeon the role for three years.
Conservative councillor Sally Carr, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council'sexecutive member for children's services, said: "Rainer will provide keyworkers who are responsible for the individual young people and willprovide trained support staff to visit the young people on a dailybasis."
Rainer's training will include: cooking; looking after a home; cleaning;washing; ironing; and job searching skills.
