Letters: Drop the dispersal zone

The decision by the Metropolitan Police to create a dispersal zone in central London is a flawed piece of legislation that treats all under-16s as troublemakers (Debate, 28 July-3 August).

Will they be chased home by the police if they come out of the cinema after 9pm? With many films finishing after this time, and more adults working later and so unable to accompany them, what options are left?

What is to prevent those causing problems claiming the one person who might be with them who is over 18 is acting as a responsible adult? Deal with the causes, not the symptoms and victims.
