Letters: CRB offers a reliable service

1 min read
Your article about the Criminal Records Bureau in Children Now, 3-9 November, may have misled your readers about who runs the CRB and about its current performance.

The CRB is an executive agency of the Home Office and delivers its disclosure service through a strategic partnership consisting of the Home Office, the police, Capita and registered bodies.

It now provides a more comprehensive, consistent and reliable service than ever before; a fact that was recognised by the National Audit Office earlier this year. Since June 2003, the CRB has met its public service standards and this month it issued its five millionth disclosure.
