
I had just left school, and as if this wasn't bad enough, another tragedy was just around the corner. My sister was diagnosed with bone cancer before her 21st birthday. She passed away just six days after I started my Entry to Employment programme at Rathbone in Wakefield.
I wasn't going to give up though, and with the help of my tutors, who gave me counselling, I got through the course. I also wanted to do childcare, so after doing my Cache childcare award, I started my Technical Certificate in January this year.
Recently, I helped the centre raise money for Children in Need. I know what it's like to need help. I am proud of myself for coping with my sister's death and the flooding. I never thought
