The forum, which has threatened to take Ofcom to court if it does notmake the pre-9pm ban a full option in its consultation on junk foodadvertising, said the watchdog is threatening to involve up to 144organisations in the case. If that many organisations were involved thelegal action would face longer hearings and higher costs.
Jane Landon, deputy chief executive of the forum, said: "Ofcom'sresponse to our legal challenge is to try and scare us into abandoningour claim. We just want full and fair representation of the 9pmoption."
A spokesman for Ofcom, however, dismissed the accusation as unwarranted.He added that court action would pre-empt the consultation, whichinvolves organisations representing a spectrum of opinion.
