ContactPoint

Where you might hear it: From anyone working with children and young people.

What it means: ContactPoint is the new online information-sharing directory for practitioners who work with children and young people. It won't be available until later this year, but several local authorities have already piloted the so-called "index" tool. The directory will hold basic details on all children in England up to the age of 18. It will include contact details for the child and their parent/carer and for services working with the child such as their school and doctor. ContactPoint will also show whether or not a child has been assessed under the common assessment framework, but the directory will not include any case information.
