iPod cards give anti-crime advice

Youth Justice
Cards designed to look like iPods warning young people of the dangers of street crime have been produced as part of an anti-crime campaign in Barnet.

The idea was thought up by local young people on the London borough's Communication, Results, Action Committee, a group set up by charity Crime Concern that works with teenagers and the police.

About 5,000 of the cards will be handed out through schools. They contain advice such as keeping mp3 players hidden, using black headphones rather than white and keeping their music low to allow them to hear if someone approaches.

It also advises pupils to plan their routes before journeys, and register their iPods on www.immobilise.com, which the police use to trace owners of stolen goods.
