Morgan took over as the new director of children's rights at the Commission for Social Care Inspection last week. He is clearly determined to see a shift from the current position where it is "quite common" to take the professional adult's view when there is disagreement over a complaint. "That must change and will be part of my remit and the complaints procedure."
Morgan, who occupied the same role at the National Care Standards Commission, wants children's views represented through the new childmark scheme, which has been dubbed the children's Oscars. The aim is to ensure their opinions will make a real difference in the social services inspection process by asking them if any aspect of the service deserves an award.
