Inspection: First Joint Area Review praises West Sussex youth services

1 min read

The area is the first in England to be reported on following a Joint Area Review investigation led by a team of seven inspectors from Ofsted, the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), the Healthcare Commission and by the Audit Commission.

The new reviews replaced Ofsted's individual youth service inspections in September. Most of its departments were rated "good".

The report, published this week, is themed across the five Every Child Matters outcomes: being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieve, making a positive contribution, and achieving economic wellbeing. West Sussex scored three points for four of the five outcomes, out of a four-point scale ranging from inadequate (one point) to outstanding (four points). It received a satisfactory rating (two points) for services to keep young people safe.
