Youthfirst Bully Camps prides itself on being run by young people foryoung people.
The weekend residential programme is run by six peer coaches aged 16 to17, who have all been victims of bullying. The coaches completed a30-day training course on peer counselling and now teach children aged11 to 13 skills in self-esteem, how to deal with bullying and confidencebuilding.
"We find that when young people come on the camp they have very lowself-esteem. It lifts their confidence and self-esteem and they aregiven the tools to deal with bullying," says project manager DominicBonner.
