What it is: A two-pronged sex and relationships education programme aimed at eight- to 16-year-olds in schools in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire

Tackling the UK's high rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections requires ever more innovative approaches. And a programme developed by West Dunbartonshire Council seems to have made its mark with a highly commended rating in fpa's national Pamela Sheridan Awards for the most innovative practice in sex and relationships education.

Co-ordinated by Louise Anusas, the council's health development officer, the programme used the medium of dance to engage with young people in secondary schools on issues affecting them, such as peer pressure and sex and relationships.
