Goals: To use dance theatre to educate young people about sexual health and relationships
Funding: 5,000 from NHS Greater Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire Council's Arts and Education Links Programme. The project also got a grant from the Scottish Executive's Integrated Schools in the Community Fund
West Dunbartonshire Council's Health Promoting Schools Programme was a highly commended runner-up in fpa's recent Pamela Sheridan Award, which recognises the most innovative practice in sex and relationships education.
The programme was run last April and included a project called the Zygote Residency. The project worked with Year 9 pupils at Clydebank High School to choreograph a dance theatre programme focusing on several themes linked to sexual health. Themes included peer pressure, media influences, gender stereotypes, self-expression and communication skills.
