Children have been treated to circus acts, painting, dance and a "fairy workshop" this week as Great Ormond Street Hospital's play department celebrates its thirtieth birthday.
Since its official opening in 1974 by the Queen, the department has grown to 40 specialists and serves the 90,000 patients who pass through the hospital's doors each year.
Play specialist Jane Aston says play is tailored to the abilities of the children, and can be anything from reading or painting to performing a play.
