Bronchial Boogie has had dramatic results since its launch in mid 2002.

Just five per cent of children on the programme take time off school because of asthma, compared to 35 per cent before they joined the programme, and the number of children that are able to sleep through the night has doubled.

The programme, jointly run by Oldham council's music service and Oldham Primary Care Trust, works with children in deprived areas, who tend to have a higher incidence of asthma. Nurses from the trust are given the names of asthmatic children by primary schools, then ask their parents if they're happy for them to go on the programme.
