There's a lot of talk about ensuring children are properly consulted about the services they receive, but A Space has been putting this into practice since it opened in September 1997.
The project provides out-of-school services to 1,500 children a year in the Kingsland area, and is backed by the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts and Hackney Learning Trust. It is used by the Social Science Research Unit at the University of London as a model for developing out-of-school services. It operates from Kingsland secondary school and serves its feeder primary schools.
