The West of Scotland's reputation for sectarianism has few equals, but pupils from two Barrhead primary schools, one Roman Catholic and one non-denominational, are doing their bit to break down the barriers. Initiated by Ruth Wallace, deputy head of Springhill Primary, the project involves more than 90 primary seven pupils at Springhill and its Roman Catholic equivalent, St Mark's.
The initiative is part of the children's enterprise project, where Scottish primary children are exposed to enterprise-based education and creativity, and formally lasts until the end of the school year. So far the pupils have taken part in a workshop with Nil By Mouth, the Glasgow-based anti-bigotry charity, and taken drama workshops with PACE Theatre Company.
