What it is: A peer-led youth empowerment group based in Hackney, London

Goals: To engage and encourage children and young people to become involved in issues that concern them and be more active in their communities

Funding: Start-up funding from Summer Education UK with further support from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. Cityzen now relies on project contract work but plans to apply for further grant funding

"A lot of young people think having to help in the community is going to be boring," says Keji Okeowo.

"When they see the work we've done they realise it's not just restricted to sitting down in a room and talking, it's planning things of interest to them."
