While many sports projects simply aim to get children active,Westminster City Council's Champion 2012 project goes further. Set upthree years ago, the project aims to nurture the sporting talent ofchildren in the London borough with the goal of producing world-classathletes in time for the London Olympics.
Richard Shwe, the council's head of sports, says Champion 2012 came intobeing after the council reviewed local sport facilities forchildren.
