Braunstone, one of Leicester's most deprived districts, might not be the first place you would look for academic brilliance. But the Braunstone Community Association's establishment of nurture groups has put local infant and primary schools at the educational cutting edge.

A nurture group is a special class for young children who are struggling in school. They may be insecure or need extra attention. Sometimes the children are withdrawn or have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
