Belfast Central Mission, or BCM, has a long history of helpingchildren.

Formed in 1889 by the Methodist Church, the charity supports children,teenagers and elderly people in a variety of ways, including supportedhousing and a residential care home.

The charity's annual summer holiday programme is the centrepiece of itswork with children, featuring four summer holidays for eight- to10-year-olds.

The holidays began in the 1930s and give children in contact with socialservices a chance to get away from the pressures of daily life. Thecharity takes 22 children on each holiday, while the mission holdsevents at its Childhaven Centre in Millisle, County Down.
