In the News: Youth club leaders find the perfect plaice for young people in Glasgow's South Side

Teenagers in Glasgow's South Side had the distinct feeling that something fishy was going on when a new youth club popped up on their doorstep.

Youth club leaders teamed up with the Blue Lagoon chippie in Silverburn to create the club in the fish and chip shop to cope with increasing demand for youth facilities in the area, reported Glasgow's Evening Times newspaper.

Donna Foote, who runs the club, said: "The children think it is amusing, but it is proving very popular. I went to the Blue Lagoon to talk about something else and the subject of local young people came up. I said: 'We could meet in here.' I used to go to a youth club in a cafe, which had a jukebox, and it was great."
