Our panel offers advice on youth club attendance, school improvement on a budget, imaginative nursery toys and foster carer support

Q. We have set up a new youth club in our village hall and worked very hard to put on a variety of interesting activities for children and young people. So far there has been minimal involvement and we're finding it really difficult to get them to come along. What are we doing wrong?

Tracie Trimmer-Platman: Community projects must be based on local need which means asking young people what they want. Gather as much information as you can. Ask them what is missing from the community at the moment, what they would like to get out of the new club, what they would support and encourage them to use it.
