Our expert panel offers advice on returning to work after absence, effective nursery websites, personal boundaries and young refugees.

Q: I'm a director of children's services returning to work after time off sick. How do I organise my first day back?

Peter Lewis: Day one should look like most Monday mornings, with an agenda people are used to. If you're not back yet, start this now before you go in.

Start with high-risk children. You need to know who has become high risk and who is no longer high risk and the social workers assigned to high-risk cases.

You must also be up to date on any issues around placement stability, children missing from home or care placements and evidence of trafficking or child sexual exploitation.
