Children planted primroses to mark a change of name for a Sheffield children's centre. More than 300 plants were dotted around the Primrose Children's Centre, formerly known as the Creswick Street Centre in Hillsborough.

Whittlesey Children's Centre in Cambridgeshire celebrated its official launch last month. The centre is based at New Road Primary School and was launched by Cambridgeshire County Council chairman Tony Ogee.

A purpose-built children's centre for families in Holsworthy, Devon, has opened its doors. The £450,000 centre is being run by Bluecoat Infant and Nursery School.

Minister for women and equality Harriet Harman visited the Bailey Brook Children's Centre in Langley Mill last month. The £600,000 centre in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire opened in February last year.

Families in Pembury, Kent, look set to get a new children's centre. Pembury Primary School is one of 10 proposed sites for new centres in the county.
