The second of Windsor's children's centres is on its way after renovation work began during the holidays.

South Ascot Children's Centre will share a building with Oakfield First School, a nursery and a music teaching service and is due to open early next year.

An after school club for children aged four to 12 is due to open in Mill End, Hertfordshire, this month. The club, run by The AfterSchool Club, will be based at the community centre and offers a free collection service from local schools.

Somerset County Council last month secured planning permission for a new children's centre for families in Burnham-on-Sea to be built next to an infant school.

Oak Meadow Children's Centre in Portsmouth has been transformed due to community fundraising. The centre has a new sensory room and garden thanks to donations from groups including the local working men's club.
