In Practice: Up & running - New home for nursery

A Northumberland nursery is set to move into a new home after its previous building was destroyed by fire. The Busy Bees childcare service, which includes daycare and out-of-school clubs, will be based in a new building at Seahouses First School.

Former England rugby player Martin Bayfield helped launch an after-school club at the University of Bedfordshire last month. The study support centre will help local schoolchildren develop literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

A £1.2m children's centre in Cradley, Worcestershire, was due to open its doors last month. Cradley Children's Centre will be based across two sites at Caslon Primary School and Colley Lane Primary School.

Children at a Sheffield after-school club will benefit from a new outdoor play area thanks to a £10,000 lottery grant. The new facility, based at Birtley Primary School, is due to be finished in the spring.

Littlebury Children's Centre in Watford had its official opening in December 2007. The centre has strong links with two primary schools and a multi-cultural centre.
