The Department for Children, Schools and Families has published new guidance and resources to help professionals tackle bullying in extended services and other out-of-school settings. The Safe from Bullying documents can be downloaded at www.everychildmatters.gov.uk.

Capita is hosting its second national conference on promoting community cohesion in schools on 22 June in central London. Themes include the role of extended services. www.capitaconferences.co.uk

School breakfast clubs can start the day with a sing-song, thanks to a new resource from ContinYou and Sing Up. The free Singing Breakfast Club materials contain activity sheets to get clubs started. ContinYou is also planning some national training events for breakfast club staff. www.continyou.org.uk

The role of children's centres and extended services in safeguarding vulnerable children will be explored at a trio of seminars hosted by 4Children this summer. The events are in London (1 July), Birmingham (7 July) and Leeds (9 July). Call 020 7522 6970 for details.
