No two days are the same for family outreach worker Carolyn Hill.
She is based at Silver End Children's Centre in Essex, which is run by charity 4Children, and supports families with children under five who need extra help.
Previously, she worked as a teaching assistant for nine years and was then a room leader in a children's centre nursery.
She began her current job in August 2008 with some intensive training, which included shadowing different professionals such as health workers.
"We offer families short-term or long-term support, which can be practical or emotional," says Hill.
"We visit some at home and help them access services in the centre and elsewhere. Very often we'll go with them to give them confidence."
