Share was developed by learning charity ContinYou and is offered in morethan 100 local authority areas across the UK. In Leeds, the programmeruns in schools, early years centres, and two prisons. It has also beendelivered in libraries and with foster carers.
Trained facilitators run sessions for parents and carers on simple andfun activities they can do with their children at home. The activitiesare linked to the curriculum with a focus on maths and literacy.
Often sessions are totally led by parents, who choose what to focuson.
They're an opportunity to ask questions, talk over problems and helpeach other out. Peer support is a key element in the Share approach, explains Hunter. "As well as parents learning from each other, you seevery strong friendships develop from a good family learning group."
