Performance Percentage of care leavers aged 19 in education, employment or training

Derbyshire is improving life chances for young people in its care by ensuring a continued increase in the percentage of 19-year-old care leavers in employment, training or education placements.

In 2005, the authority was already performing significantly above the national average with 69.1 per cent of 19-year-old care leavers engaged in training or employment. This rose to 79.2 per cent in the year ending 31 March 2009. But a drop in the percentage of the cohort in the previous year has renewed efforts to ensure all young people in care are reaching their potential.
